There IS, but...

Oh, what the heck. The girl's name is Sari, and that... thing floating next to her is the spirit form of her wolf familiar, which has no name to this date. The two are universe-travellers.

However, there is a problem, since her wolf companion is an inner familiar (Meaning it comes from herself and not a bond made with an animal). For Sari to have brought her familiar out of her body, she had to give up certain abilities or qualities. In her case, she lost the ability to speak (Although her familiar can do it for her, and Sari can telepathically relay what she wants said to it) and most of her courage. The speaking thing is a bummer for her, but the real annoying thing is the courage bit, since she now has a fear problem. However, the wolf protects Sari, so she doesn't have to worry THAT much. She does fight, however, and quite fiercely, I might add.

As for where they are, let's just say that it's a high-altitude, mountainous place, and reminds me somewhat of her inability to speak. In other words, it's unnaturally quiet, save for the wind. Oh, did I mention it's cold?
